On this day in 1913 the Wisconsin ecologist John T. Curtis was born.
A leading researcher in prairie restoration in Wisconsin, he was most noted for his support of Henry Gleason’s prairie research and for his advanced ordination and sampling techniques as published in 'The Vegetation of Wisconsin' (1959).
Curtis Prairie, a very early restoration at the University of Wisconsin Arboretum, is dedicated to his memory.
