Dalea purpurea (purple prairieclover)

Previously known as Petalostemum purpureum.

A small, long-lived forb with compound leaves and capitate infloresence. Here, it is commonly found in dry prairie, sand prairie, and open cedar glade. This plant ihas been completely extirpated from Michigan and Ohio.
